Durant Shortstop named to All-State Team
DES MOINES — Four River Valley Conference softball players were named to the class 2A 1st Team All-State softball team put out by the Des Moines Register. All four players helped lead their teams to the 2015 state softball tournament. A record number of RVC teams - three - made up the eight-team state field. Two played for the state title with Iowa City Regina claiming the state title with a win over Cascade.
Named to the All-State team was infielder Kennedy Brown and pitcher Sarah Lehman from Iowa City Regina, Cascade outfielder Lexi Weber and Durant shortstop Shannon Telsrow.
Telsrow had the seventh highest hit total in class 2A this summer with 58. She also had 5 home runs and 33 RBI’s to go with a .426 batting average and an on-base percentage of .500. She was an all-district and all-conference selection this season.
Brown batted .462 with 55 hits, 12 home runs and 55 RBI’s while Lehman had a record of 17-8 in 180 1/3 innings with a 1.01 ERA and 238 strikeouts. Weber batted .459 with 51 hits, 4 home runs and 36 RBI’s.
Cascade junior Lynsey Dolphin was selected for the second team. She batted .354 with 40 hits and 20 stolen bases. She also pitched and had a record of 12-5 in 121 innings with a 2.02 ERA.
