Tigers Hope Third Time Is A Charm

PODCAST - Tipton BB Postseason Preview

TIPTON — The Tipton Tiger boy's basketball team finished the regular season winners in six of their last eight games and look to carry that momentum into the postseason.  The Tigers will open the 2015 district tournament this Monday, February 16 at Camanche against North Cedar at 6:30 p.m.  The winner of that game plays early next week at Cascade.
"We are hoping to come out with a good start and play well early.  In the postseason, there is a sense of urgency and we want to be in control of the game," said Tipton basketball coach Matt Fouch.
"Both teams are different.  We sometimes put out five guards out there and they have more of a traditional lineup with guards and forwards.  I think that it will come down to whoever can get their style of play going for the longest time," he said.
Tipton lost to the Knights at home on Saturday, January 10 and fell 51-49 this past Tuesday, February 10 at Clarence.  The third meeting will take place six days after the last lost.
The Tigers are a scary team, sporting three double figure scorers and two others with point averages over eight points.  Tipton also has sneaky good post players in Logan Ralston, Zach Howell and Logan Hoffman.
Tipton will have to find a way to shore up the inside game of the Knights.  Sophomore Logan Minar and senior Jayden Johnson offer tough match ups for the Tigers.  Minar had a double-double scoring 18 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.  Johnson scored 10 points and had 7 rebounds.
