WILTON — The Wilton volleyball team returns many players from a team that was 18-14 last season and lost to Durant in the first round of the 2A playoffs. The Beavers started the season 5-0 and won eight of their first nine matches. Later in the season, Wilton had a four-match winning streak.
Gone from last year are Megan Drumm, Lexi Grage, Allison Bosten and Renee Kerr. Drumm had 285 digs and was third on the team in serving, going 267-287 with 20 aces. Bosten had 18 kills and served 67-71 with 8 aces.
Wilton returns seven players from their rotation last season. Back this season are Emily Lange, Kali Milder, Lexi Maurer, Kortney Drake, Aubrey Putman, Reagan Scarboro, Amanda Fowler and Kallie Poor.
The Beavers return their top-6 hitters last year. Sophomore Aubrey Putman led the team in kills with 209 while senior Reagan Scarboro had 182. Other returners senior Amanda Fowler (90 kills), sophomores Kortney Drake (69 kills) and Emily Lange (61 kills) and juniors Lexi Maurer (35 kills) and Kallie Poor (24 kills) return. Maurer and Poor along with Kali Milder return as the leading servers back as well.
The Beavers return top setter Kallie Poor who had 487 assists last season. Drake (50), Fowler (32) and Lange (31) return as top blockers and Maurer and three others return leading the back row.
Wilton will play in tournaments at English Valleys, Easton Valley, Wilton, Springville and Washington. The Beavers play home matches against Mid-Prairie, Tipton, Iowa City Regina and West Branch.
