TIPTON — The Tipton Tiger boy’s cross-country team said goodbye to four-time state qualifier Matt Pelzer and two others, but return five runners off of their 2015 state team.  Besides Pelzer, Alex Comstock and Manny Stegall each graduated.  Pelzer led Tipton at state with a 29th place finish while Stegall placed 101st. Comstock provided another senior on the team and added to the overall Tigers depth last season.
“We have a real resurgence of youth with the number of freshmen we have out,” said Tipton cross-country coach Eric Walsh.
Returning from the state team are Ben Ellis, Noah Jedlicka, Bryce Deerberg, Sam Bierman and Corey Wallick.   Deerberg placed 50th at state followed by Wallick (71st), Bierman (72nd), Jedlicka (88th) and Ellis (90th).  Conor Cromer also is back and will look to compete for a varsity spot.
“It’s been a little hard to put together workouts early.  Some have logged a lot of miles, some haven’t and a large part of our team (new runners) haven’t put in this many miles before.  We are just getting everyone on the same page early on,” said Walsh.
