Tigers win home dual meet, collect 7th dual win

  TIPTON — The Tipton Tiger wrestling team has not wrestled at home since early last December when they hosted their own tournament. Last Thursday, Tipton welcomed Midland, Mid-Prairie and Northeast Goose Lake to town for a quadangular wrestling meet.
Tipton won their seventh dual in a 33-30 victory over Midland. Levi Mohr, Lucas Barnum, Kaleb Mesick, Austin Lenz and Ben Emrich all got forfeit wins in the dual. The dual was ultimately won with a sudden victory match win
by John Crowley at 132 over Griffen Gravel, 7-5.
  Tipton did not do well against RVC South foe Mid-Prairie in a 60-24 dual loss. The Golden Hawks won ten of the 14 matches in the dual including the first seven matches. The dual started at the 152-pound weight class. Tipton trailed 42-0 before getting their first points. Tipton’s only points came in four straight matches on a 24-point run. Kaleb Mesick pinned Levi Stults in 1:19 after getting an early take- down. Austin Lenz followed with a pin of his own in 1:36 over Dallas Miller at 113. Lenz led 8-3 after getting four take- downs in the first minute and a half of the match. Ben Emrich picked up a forfeit win at 120. 

  The Tipton run of points ended with a pin by John Crowley at 126 in 1:28.
Tipton lost 47-36 to Northeast Goose Lake.
  The dual was one of runs. The Rebels took leads of 18-0 and 30-6. Tipton’s only points came from a forfeit win by Zach Jones at 195.
  Tipton went on a 30-0 run to take a 36-30 lead with three matches remaining. Tipton got forfeit wins from Brendan Nantz (106), Austin Lenz (113) and Ben Emrich (113). John Crowley pinned Logan Dodd in 1:32. Crowley led 10-4 on five takedowns in 90 seconds before getting the win at 126. Chance Koch also won by pin over Nate Bailey at 132. Koch led 5-3 before getting the pin in 1:53.
  The Rebels won the last three matches, two by pin and another by technical fall.
The Tigers will host their second straight dual meet this Thursday, when Bellevue and Iowa City Regina come to town.
