Tigers run at third indoor track and field meet

  PELLA — Spring break was last week for Tipton High School but the indoor track season continued as the Tigers track team traveled to Pella for their annual appearance at the Central College High School Indoor meet. It was the last indoor meet before the River Valley Conference indoor track and field meet on Thursday at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon.
  At the meet, Tipton athletes had many chances to lower times and extend throw distances.
The top finish at the meet was an 8th place finish by Andrew Stewart in the high jump with a best jump of 5-feet, 8-inches.
  Other Tipton high finishes were Ben Ellis placed 12th in the 1,600-meter run in 5:11.89, Kolton Crock 15th in the shot put (39-08), Quinton Mesick 16th in the 60-meter dash (7.60), and Bryce Deerberg 18th in the 400-meter dash (57.49).
  Tipton’s best relay finish came from its 4X800-meter relay team of Isak Skeie, Bryce Deerberg,
Austin Lenz and Trent Pelzer just missed out on a top-10 finish, placing 11th in a time of 9:38.86. Tipton’s 4X400-meter relay team of Quinton Mesick, Blaise Thumma, Deerberg and Skeie placed 12th in 3:57.22 to give Tipton two, top-15 relay finishes.
  The Tigers competed at the Dickinson Relays in Cedar Falls on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa, on March 7.
  Tipton’s best relay events, placed 39th in the 4X400 and 41st in the 4X800. Wes Zell had the top individual finish with a 31st place finish in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.31. Bryce Deerberg placed 92nd in the 400-meter dash while Ben Ellis placed 100th in the 800-meter run and Brendon Claussen placed 101st in the 60-meter dash.
