CEDAR RAPIDS — The West Liberty Comets won their class 3A quarterfinal against unranked Forrest City on Wednesday morning to advance to today's class 3A semifinal against #5 Mt. Vernon.  The Comets swept Forrest City by scores of 25-23, 25-18 and 25-20.
Hailey Daufeldt had 10 kills and 8 digs to lead the Comets.  West Liberty served 73-for-76 with 11 ace serves in the match  Emma Martin was 18-for-19 with three aces.  Cassedi Simon had 9 digs while Audra Bridenstine and Maddie Simon each had 8.
The Comets had 15 blocks in the match with six players with at least one.  Cassedi Simon had a team high 28 assists.
