Five RVC Teams Ranked In Preseason Basketball Polls

  DES MOINES — Five of the 13 River Valley Conference member schools begin the 2017-18 girl’s basketball season ranked in either class 2A or 3A.  Three RVC schools are ranked in class 2A and two in class 3A.  Of the five, four are from the RVC North.  Ranked teams are Iowa City Regina, Bellevue and Cascade in class 2A and Camanche and Monticello in class 3A.
  Six of the eight 2016-17 class 2A state tournament are ranked to start the season including all FInal Four teams - Iowa City Regina, Western Christian, Treynor and Cascade.  North Linn and Logan-Magnolia also reached state and also begin the year ranked.  North Linn and Iowa City Regina begin the seasons ranked as #1 and #2 respectively.  Treynor is third and Western Christian is fourth.  RVC North members Bellevue and Cascade begin the season ranked 7th and 11th.
  In class 3A, 2016-17 runner-up Sioux Center begins the season ranked #1.  Five of the eight state teams from a year ago begin the season ranked.  They are Sioux Center, Cherokee, Crestwood, Davenport Assumption and Clear Lake. Crestwood begins the season ranked second followed by Clear Lake.  Two RVC teams are ranked in class 3A, both RVC North schools.  Camanche begins the season ranked 7th and Monticello begins ranked 13th.
