TIPTON — What does hockey and NASCAR racing have in common?  Answer: I don't know much about them.
That is about to change.
During the month of November I will try to get a handle on the sport of hockey.  Hockey is a sport that has intrigued me for some time, but I have never tried to learn.  Here in Iowa, the high school sports scene offers no hockey among their sanctioned sports by the Iowa High School Athletic Association.  Thus, since not seeing the sport on a regular basis.

To help me, I am going to use these resources as well as other sources that become available this month.

Books:
Open Net by George Plimpton
Home Game - Hockey and Life in Canada by Ken Dryden and Roy McGregor
Hockey For Dummies by John Davidson, with John Steinbreder

Video Games:
NHL 1996 - Sega Genesis

Magazines:
Let's Play Hockey - 3 current issues - possibly more this month.

NHL Games:
Recently we got cable tv, which means that NBC Sports Network and Comcast are sources for watching live or the ability to record live NHL games.

So, come along and learn as I learn.  It's going to be a fun month.
