River Valley Conference Has Five Ranked Teams

DES MOINES — For the second time this season, there are five River Valley Conference girl's basketball teams ranked in either the class 3A or 2A top-15 IGHSAU polls. Those teams are Iowa City Regina, West Branch, Durant, Cascade and Monticello. The Cougars are ranked for the first time this season, checking in at #13 in class 3A.
Durant remains ranked #12 this week and have been ranked in all four of the class 2A rankings this season.
Iowa City Regina remains #2 while West Branch moved up a spot to #5 this week in class 2A. Monticello remained ranked #8 this week in class 3A.
In class 2A, the top-5 teams shuffled around after another loss for Western Christian, last week's #3 team. Pekin moved to #3, Manson-NW Webster moved to #4 and West Branch moved to #5. Western Christian dropped from #3 to #6. Lawton-Bronson, last week's #8 team also lost and dropped three spots to #11. Treynor entered the rankings at number 15 after improving to 6-0.
 In class 3A, the top-10 teams stayed the same this week.  Two teams dropped out of the class 3A poll - West Marshall (13) and Mediapolis (15).  Cascade moved into the rankings for the first time at #13 as did Crestwood at #14.  Davenport Assumption tumbled to #15 after suffering two losses last week and falling to 2-4.
  The other classes so no change in their top-ranked teams.  Waukee is ranked 1st in 5A, Ballard in 4A and Springville in class 1A.
