EDDYVILLE — The North Cedar Knight girls track team continued the creativity to beat the crazy spring weather last Thursday. Having already had a scheduled meet in Marion on the 29th cancelled, the Knights were able to enter the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Rocket Relays to be able to get a meet in. North Cedar found 10 other teams at the meet, many of which they never face. Teams at the meet were North Polk, PCM, Lynnville-Sully, Baxter, Van Buren, HLV, Albia, Pleasantville, Cardinal and the hometown Rockets.
At the meet, North Polk won the team title with 103 points. North Cedar was second with 87 points. The points and n- ish were the highest this year to date in a meet. PCM placed third with 73 and Lynnville- Sully was fourth with 60 points. The Knights won seven events at the meet with one field, three relays and three individual event wins.
The Knights won three individual events. Grace Proesch collected two individual wins in sprint events. Proesch won the 200-meter dash in 26.68 and the 400-meter dash in 1:00.31. It was the second straight meet that Proesch has won the 400-meter dash. Cassie Cox claimed the other individual event win for North Cedar, winning the 800-meter run in a time of 2:30.18.
In relay events, North Cedar won the 4X400-meter, the shuttle hurdle and the sprint medley relay events.
The Knights 4X400-meter relay team of Kelly Proesch, Cassie Cox, Sydney Dennis and Grace Proesch won the event in a time of 4:15.02. The Knights sprint medley relay team of Brittyn Wilhau, Lexi Crist, Cassie Cox and Grace Proesch won in a time of 1:55.80. North Cedar aldo won the shuttle hurdle relay in 1:10.87 with the team of Kelly Proesch, Darby Hawtrey, Tessa Fields and Andrea Wachendorf. North Cedar won one field event, the discus. Nicole Sander won the event with a season best outdoor throw of 100-feet, 3 inches.
The Knights will run twice this week, once at home and once at home and the other time, this Thursday at the Tigerette Relays in Tipton.
