Tigers Place 9th At River Valley Meet

BELLEVUE - The Tipton boy’s track team faced off against some of the best track athletes in class 2A at the annual River Valley Conference meet last Thursday at Bellevue.  There, the Tigers placed 9th as a team with a team total of 53 points.  The 9th place finish tied the Tigers high in the four years of the RVC, equalling their 9th place finish at the 2015 meet.  However, the 53 team points shattered the Tigers previous high of 34 points scored at the 2015 meet.
In field events, Tipton had three events have top-5 finishers.  Quinten Mesick claimed the top Tipton finish in the field events with a 3rd place finish in the long jump.  Mesick had a best jump of 19-feet, 10.5 inches.  Dillon McCullough just missed a top-10 finish, placing 11th in the event.  Andrew Stewart placed 5th in the high jump with a best jump of 5-10.  Kolton Crock also had a top-5 finish in the shot put  with a 5th place finish with a best jump of 47-feet, 6.75 inches.
In individual events, Dalton Clark places second in the 400-meter dash in a time 51.62.  Clark also placed 8th in the 100-meter dash in 11.91.  The next highest Tipton finish came from Wes Zell’s 3rd place finish in the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.43.  Ben Ellis gave the Tigers a top-10 finish in a distance event.  Ellis placed 7th in the 3,200-meter run in 10:33.77.
Frank Bierman also placed in the top-10, with a 9th place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:01.29.  Sam Bierman and Noah Jedlicka just missed top-10 finishes with 11th place finishes in the 800-meter run and 1,600-meter run respectively.
In relay events, Tipton placed in the top-10 in seven relay events.  The Tigers top relay finish came from their runner-up finish in the 4X400-meter relay.  The team of Dalton Clark, Isak Skeie, Dillon McCullough and Mesick were second in a time of 3:31.03.  The Tigers shuttle hurdle relay team of Frank Bierman, Parker Jensen, Davis Butler and Wes Zell placed third in 1:03.15.  Tipton placed 6th in the 4X200 and 4X800, placed 7th in the distance medley relay, 9th in the sprint medley and 10th in the 4X100.

North Cedar 8th At RVC Meet
The North Cedar Knights placed 8th at the River Valley Conference meet with 58 points.  It was the second highest point total in the four years of a RVC meet for the Knights.  North Cedar scored 76 points in 2015 when they placed 4th in the team race.
In field events, North Cedar had a pair of events where they placed two people in the top-10.  In the long jump, Greg Hansen placed 7th with a best jump of 18-feet, 8.5-inches and Keon McCullouigh placed 9th with a best jump of 18-feet, 4-inches.  In the discus, Byron Boleyn placed 7th with a best throw of 130-0 while Owen Meyer placed 8th with a best throw of 124-08.5.  Aaron Woodward added a 6th place finish in the shot put with a best throw of 45-feet, 9.5-inches.
In individual events, North Cedar was led by Bryce Bemer’s runner-up finish in the 200-meter dash in 23.05.  Treat Spahr had a pair of top-10 finishes in the hurdle events.  He placed 5th in the 400-meter hurdles in 59.93 and 8th in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.73.
Other top-10 finishes in individual events came from Greg Hansen, 6th in the 100-meter dash; and Seamus Raney, 8th in the 400-meter dash.
North Cedar claimed victory in one event at the meet.  The Knights won the 4X100-meter relay event with the team of Jacob Jensen, Bemer, Miles McCullough and Greg Hansen in a time of 44.43.  They edged out the runner-up, West Liberty who was second in 44.81.  The Knights 4X100-meter relay team qualified for the Drake Relays this year.  North Cedar got a pair of  runner-up finishes at the meet.  One from their sprint medley relay team and another from their 4X200-meter relay team of the same quartet as they finished in 1:32.95 to West Liberty who won the event in 1:32.61.  North Cedar got a runner-up finish from their sprint medley relay team of Jensen, McCullough, Bemer and Seamus Raney that finished in a time of 1:37.18.

Reifert Scores 26 of the 31 Beaver points
Wilton senior Evan Reifert scored 26 of his teams 31 points at the River Valley Conference meet.  Reifert won two events and placed third in another.  The 31 points is the highest point total the Beavers have scored at a RVC meet, surpassing their previous high of 21 points scored in the first year of the conference in 2014.
Reifert won the long jump with a jump of 20-feet, 7.5-inches.  He added a win in the 400-meter dash in 50.91.  Reifert also was third in the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.06.  Teammate Buddy Darting had a pair of top-10 finishes at the meet.  Darting placed 5th in the 3,200-meter run in 10:29.10 and 8th in the 1,600-meter run in 4:49.71.
The Beavers placed 9th in two relay events.  The team of Cole Rabedeaux, Drake Hayes, Dalton Snider and Ethan Fagner were 9th in the 4X400-meter relay in a time of 4:11.89 and the Beavers 4X100-meter relay team of Garrett Bohnsack, Chase Miller, Brian Stillman and Reifert were 9th in 47.33.

Wildcats Compete At RVC Meet
The Durant Wildcats competed at the annual River Valley Conference meet last week.  There, the Wildcats ran against some of the best athletes in class 2A.
Durant did not win an event at the meet.  Durant’s best individual finish came from a pair of top-10 finishes in distance events by Nathan Prunchak.  Prunchak was 9th in the 3,200-meter run in 10:49.87 and 10th in the 1,600-meter run in 4:54.78.
In field events, Cale Frett placed 10th in the discus with a top throw of 116-03.  Dawson Frett just missed a top-10 finish, with an 11th place finish in the shot put with a top throw of 41-05.75.  The Wildcats best relay finish came from their distance medley relay team.  The team of Caleb Burmeister, Tony Friederichs, Zach Hein and Bruce Dillabough were 10th in a time of 4:16.75.
