Tigers Top 100 Points In Home Co-Ed

  TIPTON - The Tipton boy’s track team nearly took the team title at their home co-ed last Tuesday. There, the Tigers battled it out with fellow RVC member Bellevue and Tri-Rivers foe Calamus-Wheatland for the team title. The Comets of Bellevue fell away halfway through the meet, making it a two-team race. The Comet would place third with 85 team points. The Tigers and Warriors took turns leading the team standings and the meet title came down to the final event, the 4X400-meter relay. There, the Tigers placed second with the team of Bryce Deerberg, Andrew Stewart, Brandon Valet and Quinten Mesick in 3:43.00, finishing with 122 points. The Warriors placed fourth, finishing with 123 points to claim the meet by one-point. The two teams were the only two that topped 100 team points at the meet.

  The Tigers won three events at the meet. Quinten Mesick won the 200-meter dash in 23.89 and Ben Ellis won the 3,200-meter run in a time of 10:47.29. The Tigers shuttle hurdle relay team of Paden Zell, Davis Butler, Payten Elijah, and Frank Bierman crossed the finish line first in a time of 1:03.31.

  Tipton added three runner-up finishes to the 4X400-meter relay runner-up finish. Paden Zell was second in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.10. The other two runner-up finishes were from relay events. The Tigers sprint medley relay team of John Stroup, Austin Lenz, Blaise Thumma and Andrew Stewart were second in 1:45.23. The Tigers also were second in the 4X800-meter relay event with the team of Bryce Deerberg, Caleb Shumaker, Noah Jedlicka and Corey Wallick in a time of 8:43.54.

  The Tigers also had third-place finishes from Caleb Shumaker in the 1,600-meter run and Paden Zell in the 400-meter hurdles.

  The Tigers ran at Northeast Goose Lake Monday and will run at Clear Creek-Amana later this week and at Highland on Monday, April 30.
