Wilton Places Second at River Valley Conference Meet

  RIVERSIDE — The Wilton girl’s golf team finished as the runner-up at the 2018 River Valley Conference meet last Tuesday in Riverside. The Beavers won the 2017 RVC title. Wilton scored 416 team points at the meet and was led by two Elite All-Conference picks. Taylor Garvin was fourth overall in the medalist race with a score of 99 while teammate Annabel Grings was sixth with a score of 100 to also claim the high honors.

  The Beavers were six strokes away from tying for the RVC title with 2018 champion Mid-Prairie. The Golden Hawks followed the Beavers as RVC South schools winning in successive years. The first three seasons of the RVC (2014-16) saw the girls golf title stay in the RVC North with Cascade winning the first RVC title in 2014 with Monticello winning back-to-back titles in 2015 and 2016. Conservative area schools finishing were Tipton eighth, Durant ninth with a score of 456 and North Cedar eleventh.

  Other Wilton scores were Eleney Owens 106, Tatum Oveson 111, Zoe Barrett 119, Riley Hammann 119. Owens shot twin scores of 53 while Oveson and Barrett dropped strokes from their first nine scores in the second nine scores.

  Other players on the RVC Elite all-conference team were Lauren Ries (Monticello) 94, Paige Slabaugh (Monticello) 94, Ellie Vanlandschoot (ICR) 95, Aleah Roche (West Branch) 99, and Georgia Nisly (Mid-Prairie) 100.

Tigers 8th
  RIVERSIDE — The Tipton Tiger girl’s golf team placed eighth at the River Valley Conference meet, a year removed from placing seventh and two years removed from finishing as the 2016 runner-up. The Tigers scored a team score of 449.

  Addy Duwe led Tipton scores with a 107. Britney Ford was next with a 113 including a 58 on the first nine holes and a score of 55 on the second nine holes. Freshmen Alli Nash and Alex Hoffman were next with scores of 114 and 115. Nash shaved off ten strokes from her first nine hole score of 62 with a score of 52 on the second nine. Hoffman dropped three strokes off her first nine-hole score of 59 with a score of 56 on the second nine holes. Other Tipton scores were Ali Anderson 117 and Madeline Waltz 121.

North Cedar 11th At RVC Meet
  RIVERSIDE — The River Valley Conference held their annual golf meet last Tuesday in Riverside Iowa at the Blue Top Ridge Golf Course. There, North Cedar placed 11th out of 13 teams. The Knights scored 458 team points. Mid-Prairie won the conference title with a low team score of 410. Wilton, who won the RVC title last season, was the runner-up with a team score of 416 and West Branch placed third with 422 points.
  North Cedar scores were Parker Stout 107, Maddie Cornelius 110, Lydia Esbaum 115, Rachel Hart 126, Taylor Tenley 131 and Carly Meier 150.
