North Cedar falls to ranked RVC foes

  ANAMOSA — The North Cedar Knights had a tough swing through the conference last week playing two ranked teams in Wilton and Anamosa. The Knights dropped all three games against two of the elite teams in the River Valley Conference. Wilton came into the game ranked No. 7 in Class 2A and Anamosa came into their games with the Knights ranked No. 8 in Class 3A. North Cedar lost game one 10-1 and game two, 9-2.
  In game one, Anamosa beat the Knights by scoring runs in ve of the rst six innings of the game. Anamosa led 2-0 after the rst, 3-0 after the second and 8-1 after the fth inning. North Cedar had three hits in the game by three different players. Alyssa Barn- hart, Carly Meier and Alyssa He e nger each had hits. He el nger drove in the only run on the game for North Cedar. He el nger also reached base via a walk. Kendall Smith took the loss after working six innings. She walked one, struck out one, and gave up 10 runs on 12 hits.
  In game two, North Cedar fell 9-2. The Knights fell behind 1-0 after the rst but tied the game at 1-1 with a single run in the top of the second. That score stood until the Raiders scored three runs in the third and the fourth innings to take a 7-1 lead on six unanswered runs. The Raiders added two runs in the sixth to extend their lead to 9-1 after six innings. North Cedar did leave a parting shot with a run in the top of the seventh 9-2.
 North Cedar had six hits in the game and had two players with multi-hit games. Alyssa Barnhart and Kassidie Galloway each had two hits. Alyssa He e nger and Kayla Syring each have hits. Kendall Smith and Kayla Syring each had RBI’s. Syring, Katelyn Jackson and Jenna Syring each reached base via walks.  Alyssa He el nger took the loss after six innings. She walked two, struck out no batters and gave up 9 runs on 12 hits.
