11 hits by Wapello too much for Durant Wildcats to overcome

 WAPELLO — The Durant softball team’s season came to an end on Thursday, July 16 in Regional
Tournament play. The Wildcats fell 6-3 to Wapello in Wapello behind an 11-hit Arrow attack. The Wildcats end the season 10-5 while Wapello improves to 11-5. Durant had a season best seven-game win streak from June 24-July 3.
 Durant had six hits in the game and had two players with multi-hit games. Shannon Head was 3-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Durant at the plate. Allie Poston was 2-for-3 with a RBI and run scored. Savann Meinert had the other Durant hit and scored a run. Poston had a RBI and Ally Happ and Kylie Schult each reached base via walks. Kylie Schult took the loss after working six innings. She struck out five, walked one, and gave up six runs on eleven hits.
 Allyah Loling was the winning pitcher after working seven innings. She gave up three runs on six hits while striking out two and walking two batters. Wapello had 11 hits in the game and two players had multi-hit games. Mady Reid was 3-for-4 with a run and Toni Bohlen was 2-for-4 with a run in the game. Other hits came from Tatum Wolford, Serah Shafer, Morgan Richenberger, Anesa Noa, Erin Hemphill, and Loling.
 The Arrows advanced to the 2019 state tournament last year and was looking at getting back there. Wapello fell behind 3-0 in the fourth inning. Durant broke a scoreless game with a two-run top of the second. Durant took a 3-0 lead after scoring a single run in the top of the fourth. Wapello took a 4-3 lead putting up four runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Arrows continued to pile on unanswered
runs with two more in the bottom of the fifth to extend their lead to 6-3.
