MT. VERNON — The North Cedar Knights fell 35-0 to Lisbon last Friday in their second football game of the season. The Knights lost to Alburnett in week one. The game was played at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon on the field turf of the Division 3 school.
North Cedar struggled defensively as Lisbon did damage in the air and on the ground. Jake Jennett passed for 159 yards and 1 touchdown against the Knights. Jennett also rushed for 35 yards on six carries and two touchdowns.
Blake Langhurst caught two passes for 106 yards and a touchdown. Lisbon rushed for 203 yards on 30 carries for a 6.7-yard average per carry. Jack Butteris rushed for 66 yards on five carries and scored two touchdowns while Austin Krob rushed for 58 yards on eight carries.
North Cedar fell to 0-2 after non-district play and opens district play this Friday at home against Bellevue. The Knights will be away the following two weeks, at Clayton Ridge and Durant in successive weeks.
Lisbon held quarterback Carter Johnson from completing a pass in the game on seven attempts. North Cedar rushed for 52 yards in the game. Johnson led the Knights in rushing with 29 yards on 16 carries and Bryce Bemer rushed for 24 yards on six carries.
Defensively, North Cedar was led in tackles by Seb Curley with 6.
