Postseason Destinations Known for area Teams

Postseason on the horizon

TIPTON — The postseason is here and with it, destinations for our area teams.  Destinations for volleyball, swimming and cross-country are now known.  Here is where everyone is going.
In volleyball, Tipton, North Cedar and Durant play in class 2A Region 8.  The Tigers have a bye in the first round.  The Tigers will host a 2A quarterfinal match on Monday, October 24 against the winner of Wapello (21-8) and Columbus Junction (9-20).  Those two teams play on Tuesday, October 18.  North Cedar also has a bye in the first round and will host a 2A quarterfinal on Monday, October 24 against the winner of Highland (21-11) and Louisa-Muscatine (1-22).  The winners of those quarterfinal matches play in Clarence on Thursday, October 27.  The winner of that semifinal will advance to a Regional Final at Iowa City West on Tuesday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m.
Durant and Wilton will play in class 2A, Region 7.  The Wildcats open postseason play Tuesday, October 18 traveling to Calamus-Wheatland to play the Warriors (21-10).  The winner of that match will play Wilton (31-5) in a 2A quarterfinal.  Right now, the game is scheduled to be played at Wheatland.  If the Wildcats win Tuesday, that match will possibly be moved.  Check the IGHSAU.org site for changes.
The winner of the quarterfinal, will advance to a semifinal at Wheatland on Thursday, October 27 at Wheatland.  Teams on the lower bracket that may reach that match would be West Branch, Iowa City Regina or Lisbon.  The Regional Final for Region 7 is Tuesday, November 1 at Center Point-Urbana at 7:00 p.m.  The state volleyball tournament will be held on Tuesday, November 8-Friday, November 11 at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids.
In cross-country, Tipton, North Cedar and Durant will run at Monticello in a class 2A state qualifying meet.  Wilton will run in Cedar Rapids at Noelridge Park for a class 2A state qualifying meet.  Those meets start at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20.  The 2016 state cross-country meet is Saturday, October 29 in Ft. Dodge.
In Swimming, the Tipton swimming team has enjoyed an outstanding season and will swim in a 2016 Regional meet in Clinton on Saturday, October 29.  The Tigers are one of the smallest teams in the state and will face a lot of MAC schools with two Iowa City schools mixed in too.  The meet will be at Clinton High School at noon.  The state swimming meet is in Marshalltown on Saturday, November 5.
Iowa High School Football playoffs will be determined after games this week.  Playoff teams are to be released late Friday night and brackets for all classes will be released on a Playoff Pairing Special online at the following website - http://www.ihssn.com/playoffpairingsshow.html - on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.  The first round of the 2016 football playoffs begin on Friday, October 28.  The quarterfinal round will be played on Friday, November 4.  Semifinal football games will be played at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls on Thursday, November 10-Saturday, November 12 with finals in all classes Thursday, November 17 and Friday, November 18.

Class 2A State Qualifying Meets - Thursday, October 20 at 4:00 p.m.
At Monticello — Anamosa, Dyersville-Beckman, Camanche, Cascade, Danville-New London, Louisa-Muscatine, Mediapolis, Monticello, North Cedar, NE Goose Lake, Iowa City Regina, Springville-Central City, Tipton, Waukon, West Liberty.

Class 1A State Qualifying Meets - Thursday, October 20 at 4:00 p.m.
At Cedar Rapids Noelridge Park — Alburnett, Belle Plaine, Bellevue, Calamus-Wheatland, Clayton Ridge, Columbus Junction, Durant, Easton Valley, English Valleys, Highland, Holy Trinity, IMS, Keota, Lone Tree, Maquoketa Valley, Bellevue Marquette, Midland, North Linn, Pekin, Prince of Peace, Rivermont Collegiate, Scattergood Friends, WACO, Wapello, Wilton, Winfield-Mt. Union.

Swimming:
Saturday, October 29
Noon at Clinton High School
At Clinton — Burlington, Clinton, Davenport Central, Davenport North, Davenport West, Iowa City, City High, Iowa City West, Muscatine, Pleasant Valley, Tipton.
