Cedar Rapids Xavier's Julie Kadlec 2017 Golf Recipient of IGHSAU Golden Plaque Award



     Cedar Rapids Xavier’s Julie Kadlec is the 2017 golf recipient of the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union’s Golden Plaque of Distinction Award. Kadlec was honored this morning at the Class 4A Golf Tournament

     The Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union’s Golden Plaque of Distinction Award honors the Iowa coach who has demonstrated a successful career while making notable contributions toward school, community and the coaching profession

     Kadlec has been coaching golf since 1980. She started coaching at Cedar Rapids Regis and later coached Regis-LaSalle. She has been at Cedar Rapids Xavier since1998. Four of Kadlec's teams have reached the Iowa State Golf Tournament, highlighted by the 2014 team that won the Class 4A state title by 53 strokes. That same year, Xavier golfer Maddie Bertsch was the 4A state medalist. Kadlec has had seven individual state qualifiers while 15 of her players competed at the college level.

    In addition to coaching golf, Kadloc started the Cedar Rapids Regis volleyball program.  She also coached gymnastics and and cheerleading and has taught Fitness and Wellness for many years.

      Kadlec and her husband Craig have three children: Ashley, Joseph and Corey.
