BELLEVUE — The Tipton baseball team got their first win of the 2017 season, a 10-1 win at Bellevue last Thursday, June 1. There, senior Daulton Mente had 6 RBI’s to help the Tigers to victory. Mente drove in runs on a double in the first, a single in the fourth, and a single in the seventh.
The Tigers scored first in the game with a three-run top of the first. The Tigers followed that with a two-run second to take a 5-0 lead. The Tigers added a run in the fourth to extend their lead to 6-0 before Bellevue scored their only run in the bottom of the fourth to set the score at 6-1.
Tipton scored four runs in the seventh inning. The scoring came from an error, a walk to Luke Becker, and a single by Daulton Mente.
Daulton Mente earned the win for the Tigers. He went six innings, allowing one run, two hits, and striking out four. Bryce Deerberg pitched the final inning in relief, allowing no runs on no hits and striking out one batter.
Tipton collected eight hits. Daulton Mente and March Becker had three and two hits respectively to lead the offense. Becker had two singles and 3 RBI’s. Kael Jauron, Bryce Deerberg and Quinten Mesick all had singles for the Tigers. Deerberg had three stolen bases in the game and the Tigers swiped seven bases as a team in the game.

Tigers fall to #13 NE Goose Lake
TIPTON — The 13th ranked Rebels came to town and left with an 8-4 win over the hometown Tigers. The Rebels win over the Tigers was the only win in five games last week for the Rebels. Northeast Goose Lake lost to #7 Cascade, North Scott, at North Linn and at home against #2 Wilton.
The Rebels scored three runs in the top of the first inning to take control of the game. Tipton scored their first run in the bottom of the second after sending six batters to the plate. Dylan Mente walked to lead off the inning and went to second on a Kael Jauron single. Both moved up on Bryce Deerberg’s ground out. Mente came around to score on a RBI single by Jacob Tischuk to set the score at 3-1.
Northeast scored three in the top of the third and two in the top of the fourth to take an 8-1 lead. The Tigers scored single runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh, but could get no closer than the 8-4 final.
Logan Hoffman took the loss after pitching four innings. Tischuk worked the final three innings in relief. The Tigers had six hits in the game led by Jauron who was 2-for-3 with two singles. Quinten Mesick had a double while Hoffman, Deerberg and Dylan Mente each had singles.
Matthew French was 4-for-4 with two doubles, 2 RBI’s and a run scored. Kyle Dell was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI’s and three runs scored. French got the win after five innings of work. He allowed two runs. Jacob Reemtsma and Axel DonDiego each pitched in relief.
