McCrabb Twirls Perfect Game Against Rebels

WILTON — The Wilton Beaver baseball team remained unbeaten in River Valley Conference play last week with two victories over two River Valley Conference schools last week to improve to 4-0 in the RVC. Wilton improved to 6-0 overall. Wilton beat Monticello in Monticello 7-3 and beat Northeast 10-0 at home in five innings.

Wilton got a perfect game from junior Colin McCrabb in a 10-0 win in five innings over Northeast on Thursday. McCrabb had 11 strikeouts and no walks and faced the minimum 15 batters in the game. McCrabb only needed 69 pitches in the win. McCrabb also did well at the plate, going 3-for-3 and was a triple away from hitting for the cycle. McCrabb had a double, home run and 4 RBI’s. Cory Anderson also had a multi-hit game with a 2-for-3 knight with a triple and RBI.

Wilton scored two runs in the first and four runs in the second to take a 6-0 lead. The Beavers got to 10 runs with a four-run fourth inning.

The Beavers were to play a home game with Williamsburg on Wednesday, May 30, but the game was canceled.

Last Tuesday, Wilton beat Monticello 7-3. Wilton trailed 3-1 after the first inning, but a two-run top of the second tied the game at 3. Wilton kept the momentum, scoring twice in the fourth and twice in the sixth to take a 7-3 lead.

Wilton had ten hits in the game and three batters with multi-hit games. McCrabb was 3-for-3 with a home run and 4 RBI’s and scored three runs. Jared Townsend was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Tyler Hartman was 3-for-3 with a double and RBI.

Jared Townsend was the winning pitcher after six innings of work. He struck out nine and walked three runners.

Monticello lost their second game in a row with the loss. Kyle Sperfslage took the loss after pitching five innings in relief. Jacob Manternach led Panther batters, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI’s.
