BELLEVUE — The Tipton softball team won their fourth game of the season on Saturday, June 16 at the Bellevue tournament. There, the Tigers beat Clinton 4-3. In two other games, the Tigers dropped two heartbreakers by one-run each, 9-8 to Bellevue Marquette and 8-7 to Easton Valley.
Tipton beat Clinton 4-3 and needed a run in the top of the seventh to do so. The Tigers led the whole game. Tipton scored the games first runs and led 1-0 after three innings. Tipton extended their lead to 3-0 before the RiverQueens tied the game with three straight runs.Morgan Wendel was the winning pitcher after seven innings of work. She struck out two and walked one batter.
Tipton had eight hits in the game. Laken Hermiston and Kamryn Chapman each had two hits. Hermiston drove in one run. Birtney Ford had a hit and 2 RBI’s and Allie Ryan had a RBI and a hit. Hailey Stewart and Wendel had the other Tipton hits.
Against Easton Valley, Tipton led 5-1 bue were outscored 7-2 to fall 8-7. Allison Nash took the loss after working three innings and striking out three batters. She only surrendered three hits. Taylor Wendel also pitched in the game. Tipton had six hits in the game, led by Laken Hermiston who was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI’s. Ashley Mente and Grace Nichols each had a hit and a RBI in the game.
Against Marquette, the MoHawks scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to claim a 9-8 win.
Morgan Wendel took the loss after striking out three and not walking a batter. Tipton had eight hits in the game led by Allie Ryan who was 3-for-4 with RBI’s. Ashley Mente was 2-for-4.
