Beavers second at Dyersville regional


DYERSVILLE — The Wilton girl’s golf team advanced to play in next week’s second round of the Class 2A Region- als after nishing second at a 2A Regional meet at Dyersville Monday afternoon. Wilton had a team score of 401 to nish as the runner-up to regional champ Monticello who won the meet with a team score of 377.
“We are really playing some good golf right now. Today, we produced another season-low 18 hole scores (401). The chal- lenge that lies ahead of us next Monday is a rather daunting one. We are the only team in the group that has not pro- duced a sub 400 team score. Monticello, Tipton, and Wil- liamsburg have consistently produced scores below 400,” said Wilton golf coach Jamie Meyer.
Taylor Garvin shot an 18-hole score of 93 to lead Wilton.
She shot scores of 47 and 46. Annabel Grings shot a score

of 100 and Eleney Owens shot a score of 101. Other Wilton scores were Zoe Barrett 107, Ryleigh Stevens 112, and Lexi Walker 114.
North Cedar placed 5th at the regional meet. North Cedar was led by Parker Stout who placed 3rd overall to advance to the second round of Region- als as an individual player. Stout shot as score of 49 on the rst nine-holes and shaved six strokes o that total on her second nine-hole score of 43.
Other North Cedar scores were Lydia Esbaum 102, Carly Meier 110, Kate Jackson 116, and Macy Helmond 120.

Durant advances to second round of Regionals
CALAMUS — The Durant girl’s golf team nished second at the Class 1A Regional meet at Calamus-Wheatland Mon- day afternoon. The Wildcats had a team score of 421, three strokes behind regional meet champion Maquoketa Valley who won the meet with a team score of 418. The Wildcats advance to the second round of regionals on Monday, May 20 at Strawberry Point.
Belle Rockow placed 3rd overall with a score of 97. Rockow shot a score of 50 on the rst nine-holes and shaved o three strokes to shoot a score of 47 on the second nine holes. Karissa Hoon placed 5th with a score of 101 after shooting scores of 51 and 50.
“The girls played well today, It seems if one of them have a bad day someone else picks up the slack, that is what is great about this team they work well together. We will have to play well to get through the next round,” said Durant coach Denise Ahrens.
Other Durant scores were Makenna Buesing 107, Emilee Huston 116, Ellie Olsen 118 and Kiley Stineman 138.
