North Cedar drops Three Basketball Games

CLARENCE — The North Cedar boy’s basketball team played three games last week and lost all three of them, two of which at home.  The Knights have lost six games in a row and play at home twice this week, Tuesday against Bellevue and Friday against West Liberty.

North Cedar scored the most points in five games in a 73-69 loss to Lisbon.  The two teams were
tied after the first quarter and at halftime.  North Cedar trailed by one-point going to the final quarter.  
There, Lisbon escaped with the win.

Mason Minar led North Cedar with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists.  Ethan Sahr scored 19 points
and Greg Hansen scored 8 points and had 8 rebounds.

On Friday, January 26, North Cedar traveled to West Branch.  There, the Knights fell 62-451 after
struggling to score points in the first half.  West Branch led 12-9 after the first quarter and used a 22-8
second quarter run to take a 34-17 halftime lead.  North Cedar outscored West Branch 34-28 in the
second half, but it wasn’t enough.

Ethan Sahr topped 20 points, with a game high 26 on 10-of-17 shooting including five made three
pointers.  He added 7 rebounds.  Mason Minar added 15 points in the loss.

North Cedar began a three game week with a 67-47 home loss to Monticello on Tuesday, January
23.  The Knights hung with the Panthers in the first half, trailing by two points, 29-27 at hafltime after l
eading 11-10 after the first quarter.  A 30-14 third quarter run by Monticello put the Panthers in the
drivers seat, leading to the 20-point win.

Sahr led North Cedar with 10 points while Owen Meyer scored 9 points and Mason Minar scored 8
points and had 3 assists.
