WILTON — After having their game with Muscatine postponed due to weather, the Beavers non-conference game with the Muskies was moved to Wilton last Friday. There, the Beavers capped off a perfect 4-0 week with their 22nd victory, a 6-2 win. The Beavers will wait to see who they play Tuesday, July 10 in the district semifinal round of the class 2A postseason. The Beavers also remain ranked, finishing the season 5th. Wilton was ranked all season.
Against the Muskies, Cory Anderson pitched a gem, going five innings and striking out nine batters to earn the win. He gave up two runs on two hits. A.J. Bosten pitched two innings in relief and gave up two hits and struck out two.
Wilton got all the runs they would need in the first two innings, scoring three runs in each of the first and second innings of play.
The Beavers bats were silent with only two hits in the game, but Wilton drew four walks and had several players rach on Muskie errors.
Colin McCrabb had a hit, walk and scored twice while Garrett Bohnsack was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Tyler Hartman had a RBI and Jared Townsend had 2 RBI’s in the game.
Beavers Need Two Runs In 8th To Beat Ranked Trojans
FAIRFIELD — The Wilton Beavers needed extra innings to beat class 3A No. 9 Fairfield last week on the road. The Beavers got their 21st victory by scoring twice in the top of the eighth to win 8-6.
Wilton scored the first runs of the game with a 4-run second. The Beavers led 6-3 after the fourth. Fairfield however would tie the game with a single run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth.
Tyler Hartman got the win and was one of three Beavers to pitch in the game. Hartman pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief of starter Ashton Stoelk. Hartman did not allow a run or hit and struck out one batter. A.J. Bosten also pitched in the game. Stoelk had 6 strikeouts.
Wilton had 11 hits in the game with two players getting multiple hits. Colin McCrabb was 3-for-4 with a double and 4 RBI’s and Cory Anderson was 3-for-3 with 2 stolen bases and three runs scored. Jared Townsend and Tyler Hartman each had a hit and RBI in the game.
Beavers Win 15th RVC Game with Mid-Prairie Sweep
WILTON — The Wilton baseball team won their 15th River Valley Conference game with a doubleheader sweep over Mid-Prairie last week. The Beavers finished the conference season 15-3 with their only losses to state ranked Iowa City Regina twice and top ranked Cascade.
In game one, Colin McCrabb pitched a one-hitter in a 2-0 win. McCrabb struck out ten, walked one and needed only 88 pitches. Wilton scored their runs with single runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings.
Jared Townsend was 2-for-3 with a solo home run, stolen base and a run scored to lead Wilton. McCrabb, Garrett Bohnsack and Nolan Leaton had the other Wilton hits. Bohnsack drove in the other run for Wilton.
In game two, Jared Townsend pitched a one-hitter for the win in the 6-0 victory for the Beavers. Townsend struck out 14, walked three and needed 107 pitches.
