TIPTON — The Tipton baseball team lost their last three regular season games at home last week to end the regular season 11-14, heading into the postseason. The Tigers lost of pair of games to West Branch and a non-conference tilt with Calamus-Wheatland.
The Tigers lost 3-1 at home last Thursday to Tri-Rivers foe Calamus-Wheatland. The Tigers scored the game's first run in the bottom of the second for a quick 1-0 lead. The Warriors however scored three unanswered runs, including a 2-run sixth to take a 3-0 lead.
Four Tiger pitchers took the hill in the game. Ben Emrich was tagged with the loss after giving up two runs in an inning of relief. Logan Hoffman, Cole Syring and Bryce Deerberg all pitched in the game.
Tipton had only two hits in the game, singles by Quinten Mesick and Nile Schuett. Ben Emrich also reached base via a walk.
Bears Come to Tipton, Sweep Tigers In RVC Finale
TIPTON — The Tigers started off a three-game end to their regular season last week with a pair of RVC games with West Branch last Tuesday, July 3. There, the Bears took two from the Tigers by scores of 8-3 and 12-4. Tipton finished the River Valley Conference season with a record of 9-9.
West Branch took game one after putting up five runs in the top of the fourth inning in an 8-3 win. The Tigers scored first with a run in the first inning and led 1-0. Trailing 5-1, Tipton fell behind 8-1 after a three-run sixth for the Bears. Tipton didn’t go quietly, scoring two runs in the seventh.
Kael Jauron took the loss after starting and going five innings. He struck out three, walked two and gave up five runs on nine hits. Bryce Deerberg pitched two innings in relief and gave up three runs on four hits and struck out two.
Tipton had nine hits led by Quinten Mesick, Logan Hoffman and Nile Schuett who each had two hits. Mesick and Dylan Mente each had RBI’s.
In game two, West Branch led 8-0 after four innings, including a 6-run fourth to take command of the game. Tipton scored two runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings.
Luke Becker took the loss after starting and working three innings. He was one of four THS pitchers in the game.
Tipton had seven hits led by Logan Hoffman who was 2-for-3 with a RBI. Dylan Mente had a hit and 2 RBI’s and Trent Pelzer had a hit and RBI.
