Last Monday, The Wildcats lost 6-0 in game one and 7-0 in game two of their doubleheader against the Regals.
In game one, Regal senior Mitchell Gahan pitched a no hitter over seven innings. Gahan needed only 72 pitches and struck out 10 Wildcats. Regina took control of the game with a five-run second inning. Gahan led at the plate as well, going 2-for-3. Ryne Schooley had a hit and it was a big one, a grand slam to lead the Regals with 4 RBI’s. Ben Orr was the lone Durant baserunner having reached base via a walk, preventing Gahan from getting a perfect game.
In game two, Regina beat Durant 7-0. Curtis Lilienthal took the loss after working 3 2/3 innings. He struck out four, walked one and gave up four runs on four hits. Nate Dierickx and Ty Chenault pitched in relief.
Durant had four hits in the game. Mason Compton was 2-for-3 while Nathan Hultquist and Curtis Lilienthal each had hits.
Jayden Kies got the win after working seven innings. Kies struck out four, walked no batters and scattered four hits. He needed 87 pitches. Regina was led at the plate by Gahan who was 3-for-3 with a double and RBI. Masen Miller was 2-for-3 with a RBI and two stolen bases.
