Lilienthal Spins A No-Hitter In First Round

TIPTON — Durant senior Curtis Lilienthal tossed a no-hitter in the Wildcats postseason district opener last Saturday in Tipton. The ball game was the first of two games in Tipton that night. The Wildcats advance to play class 2A No. 5 Wilton in Wilton in the district semifinal. The winner of that game will play in a district final game Saturday back in Wilton.

Durant scored their first run in the bottom of the third to take a 1-0 lead. Durant extended their lead to 2-0, adding a single run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Lilienthal needed only 87 pitches to accomplish the no-hitter. He walked one batter and got help from his defense over the course of seven innings for the win. Lilienthal improved to 2-4 in six starts and lowered his ERA of 2.65 over 34 1/3 innings pitched. Lilienthal had a hit and a RBI in the game too.

Durant had five hits in the game led by Nathan Hultquist who was 2-for-2 with a triple and run scored. Ben Or and Drew DeLong also had hits. DeLong had a RBI.

The two teams played less than two weeks ago with the Wildcats winning 7-2 in Letts.
