State Softball Tournament Information

WILTON — Fans attending the 2018 state softball tournament in Fort Dodge will face some construction issues around Fort Dodge this year.

Due to an IDOT bridge project, a section of Hwy 169 is closed and the highway has been detoured to travel along Nelson Avenue passing by the Harlan Rogers Sports Complex. PLEASE plan on travel delays and plan your trip to state softball accordingly.

Suggested routes: To avoid travel through Fort Dodge: traveling west on Hwy 20 exit on P59 going north. Continue north on 42nd Street turning left (only way to go) on 1st Avenue South. Go north (turn right) onto North 32nd Street. Continue north until you get to D-14 turning left (west). You will end up just south of Harlan Rogers on Nelson Avenue and can make a easy right turn onto Nelson.
OR: Travel through Fort Dodge: traveling west on Hwy 20 exit on P59 going north. Turn west (left) on 5th Avenue South. Continue until South 15th Street and turn right (north) and travel until you reach Harlan Rogers.

Highway patrol will be at the intersection of D-14 and Nelson Avenue as well as the entrance into Harlan Rogers to help with traffic control.

Other things fans need to be aware of are: 1. No outside food or drink are allowed; 2. Pets are not allowed; 3. The entire complex is a smoke-free zone including the parking lot; 4. No noise makers are allowed; 5. No balloons, masks, large signs or banners are allowed; 6. All spectators must wear shoes

Fans that can not make the state tournament can keep up in a couple of different ways. The Iowa High School Girls Athletic Union will be having live updates via the iScore app on your smartphone or computer. Some radio stations across the state are covering the games too. If Wilton wins their first round game Monday, fans have the option to listen to the second round game. The winner of Central Springs and Logan-Magnolia would be the opponents. Radio stations to check would be KGLO (Central Springs) and KMA (L+M). Both have websites that fans may be able to find a broadcast there.

Semifinal games are also online at CISN.tv through youtube or the IGHSAU.org website. Finals for all classes can be watched on IPTV or on their website, IPTV.org. Championship games for classes 1A and 2A are on Thursday night starting at 6:00 p.m. while Friday’s schedule has championship games for 3A, 4A and 5A with coverage starting at 3:30 p.m.
