Tigers Win Williamsburg Meet Behind 5 wins

  WILLIAMSBURG — The last road meet of the season for the Tiger girl’s swimming team resulted in a meet win. The Tigers won the Williamsburg 5-team duals with a team-best score of 276 points. Williamsburg was a distant second with 247 points and the host Raiders were third with 225 points.

  Tipton won five events at the meet. Sophomore Zoe Stonebraker won there events. Stonebraker won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:33.87, two seconds ahead of the runner-up in the event. She was also on the winning 400-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle relay wins.

  Ali Anderson, Rhyan Hoefler and Maddie Swick each won two events and were part of the 200-yard free and 400-yard free relay wins.

  Tipton won all three relay events at the meet. The Tigers won the first event of the meet, the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Sara Webb, Liz Bierman, Artica Dykstra and Corrine Vandergaast placed first in a time of 2:18.17.

  Ali Anderson finished second in the 50-freestyle in 27.80. Three Tigers placed third. They were Britney Ford in the 200-yard IM, Sara Webb in the 100-yard backstroke and Liz Bierman in the 100-yard breaststroke.

  Tipton’s depth was a big plus at the meet. The Tigers finished second and third in three events, the 200-yard freestyle, the 500-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly. In the 200-free, Artica Dykstra was second and Kayley Clark was third. In the 100-yard butterfly, Rhyan Hoefler was second and Maddie Swick third. In the 500-yard freestyle, Dykstra was second and Clark was third.

  The Tigers found out their postseason Regional meet assignment. The Tigers will swim at the Linn-Mar Regional meet on Saturday, October 27. Teams at that regional are Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Cedar Rapids Washington, Decorah, Iowa City High, Iowa City West, Keokuk, Linn-Mar, Tipton and Waterloo East.
