IOWA CITY — The Durant softball team went 2-1 in three games at a tournament in Iowa City on Satur- day, June 1. The Wildcats were to play another game, but it was rained out. Durant beat Cedar Rapids Prairie 4-0 and Fair eld 8-1 on Friday, May 31 and lost to Western Dubuque 4-3 on June 1.
Kamyrn Meyer pitched seven innings, gave up two hits and struck out nine in the Wildcats win over Cedar Rapids Prairie. Durant scored three runs in the third inning to take control of the game. Allie Poston had a solo home run and Mallory Warner drove in three runs. Jenna Lawson pitched seven in- nings and stuck out 10 batters in an 8-1 win over Fair eld. Durant scored three in the third and four in the fth inning to aid in the win. Durant had 13 hits in the game. Allie Poston and Kylie Schult each had two hits and 2 RBI’s. Ruby Kappeler, Hannah Happ, and Kira Schult each had two hits.
Lawson took the loss in the Western Dubuque loss. She struck out four in six innings and gave up 10 hits. Durant scored rst with two runs in the third, but that would be their only lead of the game. Paige Werthmann, Jada Rock and Kamryn Meyer had the only Durant hits.
Durant Wins Two At North Scott Tournament
ELDRIDGE — The Durant Wildcats made the short trip to Eldridge for the North Scott Lancer Tournament on Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8. Durant lost to state ranked Louisa-Muscatine 3-0 and to Bet- tendorf. Durant beat Ames 12-0 and North Scott 2-1 on Saturday. North Scott is ranked No. 7 in Class 4A. The wins gave Durant a 4-3 record in seven weekend tournament games this year.
