WILTON — Weather wrecked the Wilton baseball schedule last week. Wilton was to play three games, but rain or results from rain forced Wilton to cancel to postpone those games. The Beavers were to host Wapello for a varsity doubleheader on Monday, June 27 and then host Williamsburg on Wednesday, May 29. Instead, Wilton got to make up one of the two games with Wapello on Saturday. There, Wilton won 15-0 in four innings. The win gave Wilton a 4-0 record this season. Wilton broke open a 2-0 game with an 8-run bottom of the second inning, building their lead to 10-0 after two innings. Wilton added three runs in the bottom of the third and two runs in the bottom for the fourth inning.
Jared Townsend was the winning pitcher, going 1 2/3 innings. He struck out ve and walked one batter and gave up one hit. A.J. Bosten pitched the nal 2 1/3 innings in relief. He struck out ve, walked one and gave up two hits.
Wilton drew 12 walks in the game and stole 9 bases. The Beavers had only four hits in the contest, each by a di erent player. Chantz Stevens had a double and 4 RBI’s and Bray- ton Wade and Brock Hartley each had hist and 2 RBI’s. Townsend had a hit and scored twice. Collin Mc- Crabb reached base on three walks. Stevens and Ashton Stoelk each reached base via two walks. Stevens had 4 stolen bases while Wade and Hartley each had two.
Wapello has had an equally hard time getting games in. Their contest with the Beavers was just their third game of the season as the third week of the regular season starts this week. Wapello lost to Mediapolis and beat West Burlington in their two other games.
Mitchell Keaton was the losing pitcher after pitching only one inning and throwing 57 pitches. He struck out three and walked 7. He gave up 8 of the Beavers runs. Four other pitchers came into the game in relief.
The Indians will play fellow RVC teams Mid-Prairie, Camanche, and West Liberty this season.
