Wilton collects two wins over RVC foes

 WILTON — A 3-run third inning propelled the Wilton softball team to a 5-2 win over Monticello on Tuesday, June 11. It was the rst of two straight home games scheduled last week for Wilton. The Beavers had 13 hits in the game.
 Mila Johnson got the complete game win after scattering seven hits and giving up two runs. She struck out four and walked four batters.
 Wilton matched Monticello’s second-inning run with one of their own in the bottom of the inning to tie the score at 1-1. The Beavers pushed three runs across the plate in the bottom of the third inning to take a 4-1 lead. Wilton extended their lead to 5-1 with a single run in the fourth. That score would stay the same until the Panthers scored a run in the top of the seventh to set the nal at 5-2.
 Wilton had 13 hits in the game. Mila Johnson was 3-for-4 and Maddy Wade and Chloe Wells each were 2-for-4 in the game. Wade had 2 RBI’s and Wells 1 RBI. Mal- lory Lange, Kortney Drake, Peyton Souhrada, Taylor Garvin, Emily Coss, and Alexis Walker each had hits in the game.
 The Beavers could not get their varsity doubleheader made up with state-ranked Iowa City Regina last week. The games were scheduled for last Wednesday, but the weather forced the postponement of the doubleheader that was already rescheduled. It is not known when the two teams will get together now to make up the games.
 Wilton remains ranked in the top-15 in Class 2A. The Beavers are currently ranked No. 7. Durant is ranked No. 2 and Iowa City Regina No. 5 in Class 2A. In Class 3A, West Liberty is ranked No. 6, Camanche No. 11, and Anamosa No. 12.

Beavers Beat Comets, 12-2 In 6  
 WILTON — The Wilton softball team won their second game against an RVC North foe last Thursday, beating Bellevue 12-2 in six innings. The Beavers had 15 hits in the game, stole six bases, and were issued 8 walks.
 Mila Johnson was the winning pitcher after six innings for the complete-game win. She struck out nine, walked one and gave up two earned runs on ve hits. Maddy Wade led the offense and ve Beavers with double-digit hit totals, going 4-for-4 with 2 RBI’s and 3 runs scored. Payton Ganzer was 3-for-5 with a double and 2 RBI’s and Emily Coss was 3-for-3 with 4 RBI’s. Kort- ney Drake had two hits, three stolen bases, and two walks, and Mila Johnson was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI’s.
 Wilton broke a 1-1 tie game with four runs in the bottom of the third to take control of the game and take a 5-1 lead. Wilton led 7-2 going to the sixth inning when they put up ve runs in the bottom of the inning to take the 12-2 win. 

Beavers beat Waterloo West At Des Moines Tournament
 DES MOINES — The Wilton Beavers traveled to Des Moines on Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15 to play at the Des Moines East Tournament. There, Wilton was 1-3 in five games. The Beavers saw their record improve to 11-11. Wilton fell to 3-7 in ten- weekend tournament games. The Beavers are 8-4 in games not played on weekend tournaments.
