Tiger Girl’s Team Could Challenge In RVC Race
TIPTON — The Tipton girl’s golf team will return four of their starting six golfers from a team that were unbeaten in River Valley Conference dual meets and placed 5th at the RVC Meet a year ago.  The Tigers will be led by senior Kailee Meyer, a two-time all-conference selection the past two seasons.  Meyer also advanced as an individual to the second round of the postseason.  Meyer will be joined by Brittany Huinker and seniors Rylee Conrad and Mara Jauron.
The Tigers will look for others to step up to fill out the remaining spots in the line up.  Out this year in addition to the quartet already mentioned are juniors McKenzie Himes and Tori Peach, sophomores Mackenzie Griffin and Kaleigh Thompson and freshmen Addy Duwe, Haylee Ham and Madeline Waltz.
The Tigers have home meets on April 3, 17 and 24.  The Tigers home invitational will be held on May 5 at the Tipton Golf and Country Club.  The conference meet is on May 10 at the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course.

Knights Face Interesting 2017 Season
LOWDEN — The North Cedar Knight girl’s golf team will have an interesting season for returning coach Lori Dittmer.  In Dittmer’s first season, senior Emily Hay qualified for the state meet after earning medalist honors at the Oskaloosa district meet.  The Knights placed 11th as a team at the RVC meet.
Emily Hay will be back for the Knights.  Also back from that team are Lydia Esbaum, Macey McAtee and Madison Cornelius from their regular line-up.
Gone from last year are Blake Sander and Taylor Tenley.  Also out for golf this year are Christina Foister and Emma Boleyn.
North Cedar opens the season hosting three RVC teams in their first four meets.  The Knights hosted Camanche on April 3 and host NE Goose Lake Monday, April 10 and Bellevue on April 24.

Durant Has Four Returners
DURANT — The Durant girl’s golf team returns four players from last year’s team.  The 2016 Durant Wildcats took a step back from a Sectional Championship team in 2015 after they lost several players to graduation last year.  The Wildcats say goodbye to their lone senior in their regular line up, Maddison Niefeldt.
Leading the way this season will be seniors Paige McKee and Kenzie Paper and juniors Susan Graces and Sierra Gregoire.
The Wildcats placed 10th at the River Valley Conference meet last season and did not qualify for a regional meet out of sectionals.  Nietfeldt and McKee scored under 100 at the conference meet with scores of 95 and 97.  All four returning regulars for the Wildcats scored 115 or under at the River Valley Conference meet last year.
Also on the Wildcat roster this season are Ellie Olson, Aubrin Dittmer and Gabby Nicola.  Durant is coached by Denise Ahrens.  The Wildcats have home meets on Monday, April 10 and Monday, May 1.  The Wildcats will host an eight team invitational on Friday, April 28.

Beaver Trio Hope To Lead Wilton Back To Districts
WILTON — The Wilton Beavers turned in another good golf season under coach Jamie Meyer.  Last season, the Beavers placed 4th at the River Valley Conference meet and won the Jesup Sectional.  The Beavers said goodbye to 2016 seniors Nicole Anderson, Alexis Grage, Sam Green and Amber Snyder.  Snyder, Green and Grage were in the regular line up.
Back to lead the way are three players from last year in Alyssa Anderson, Tess Kerkhof and Eleney Owens.
Anderson earned all-conference honors after placing 6th individually at the River Valley Conference meet last year with a score of 86 for the 18-hole meet.  Anderson followed that up with a medalist score of 93 at the Jesup sectional meet a week later.  The Beavers team won the sectional meet in Jesup.  Kerkhof was second on the Beavers team that day with a score of 105 and Owens carded a score of 113.  All six scoring players shot 114 or below.

Gone from last season out of the regular line-up are Riley Ford, Mark Becker, Adam Hermsen and Dylan Binns.  Returning for the Tigers are regulars from last year, Zach Ford and Keith Penningroth.  The Tigers will have a lot of options to fill out their line-up with one of their biggest rosters in some time.

Knights Hope To Make Noise This Year
LOWDEN — Seeing opportunity to move up in the RVC standings this season, the North Cedar Knight boy’s golf team should have a good season.  North Cedar will have four of their regulars back this year to try to make a run in the River Valley Conference.  They are Nick Dewell, Tanner Mullan, Cory Cox and Pavin Esbaum.
North Cedar placed 7th at the River Valley Conference and 4th at the sectional meet in Monticello.
