Tigers Net 10, Top-5 Finishes At Home Relays

TIPTON — The Tipton Tigers had ten, top-5 finishes last Thursday at their home Tiger Relays.  The annual track and field showcase took place to sunny skies but windy conditions at the meet.  Lisbon won the 15-team meet with 119 points while Mt. Vernon was second with 109 points as the two teams were the only ones over 100 points at the meet.  West Liberty placed third with 60 points.

Three of the ten finishes came from field events.  Quinten Mesick was third in the long jump with a jump of 19-feet, 9-inches, Andrew Stewart placed third in the high jump with a best jump of 5-8 and Kolton Crock placed 5th in the shot put with a top throw of 45-feet, 1.5-inches.

Tipton senior Dalton Clark had a pair of top-10 finishes in sprint events to lead the Tigers five, top-10 finishes, in individual events.  Clark placed 4th in the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.75 and placed 5th in the 400-meter dash in a time of 55.04.

Ben Ellis placed third in 3,200-meter run in 10:52.30, Wesley Zell placed 4th in the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.93 and Frank Bierman placed 5th in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:03.94.

Tipton placed third in the sprint medley relay in a time of 1:42.41 with the team of Brendon Claussen, Blaise Thumma, Quinten Mesick and Dalton Clark.  The Tigers placed fourth in the shuttle hurdle relay.  The team of Davis Butler, Parker Jensen, Paden Zell and Frank Bierman finished in a time of 1:07.70.

North Cedar tied for fourth place with 59 points with Center-Point Urbana.  The Knights had four runner-up finishes and four third place finishes.

North Cedar had two individual finishers and two relay event finishes each place second.  Treat Spahr placed second in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.94.  Aaron Woodward placed second in the shot put with a best throw of 47-feet, 2-inches.

North Cedar’s 4X100-meter relay team of Jacob Jensen, Bryce Bemer, Miles McCullough and Greg Hansen placed second in a time of 45.52.  The Knight’s sprint medley relay team of Treat Spahr, Keon McCullough, Byrce Bemer and Seamus Raney were second in a time of 1:42.08.

Bryce Bemer placed third in the 200-meter dash in 23.68.  North Cedar had three third place finishes in relay events.

The Knights 4X200-meter relay team of Jensen, Miles McCullough, Spahr and Hansen were third in 1:40.06.  The Knights shuttle hurdle relay team of Spahr, McCullough, Dragon Cinkovich and Ethan Sahr were third in 1:07.34.  The Knights placed third in the distance medley relay with the team of Jensen, Bemer, Hansen and Raney in a time of 4:03.01.

Wilton placed 8th with 31 points at the meet two nights after running at the Durant Wildcat Relays.  Wilton senior Evan Reifert won one event and placed in the top-3 in three events.  Reifert won the long jump with a best jump of 21-05.50.  Reifert placed second in the 200-meter dash in 23.41 and third in the 400-meter dash in 53.94.

Wilton’s best relay finish came from their 4X200-meter relay team.  The team of Garrett Bohnsack, Chase Miller, Ashton Stoelk and Brian Stillman placed 6th in a time of 1:45.06.

Durant placed 15th at the meet, two nights after hosting their own Relays.  The Wildcats two best finishes were 6th place finishes.  Carter Voelkers was 6th in the long jump with a best jump of 19-feet, zero inches to give Durant their top field event finish.  Nathan Prunchak gave Durant their top individual finish.  He was 6th in the 3,200-meter run in 11:23.77.  Prunchak was also 9th in the 1,600-meter run.

The Wildcats top relay finish came from their distance medley relay team with a 9th place finish.  The team of Voelkers, Cole Stineman, Zach Hein and Bruce Dillabough finished in a time of 4:22.86.
