WELLMAN — The North Cedar Knights boy’s track and field team placed third at the 7-team, Mid-Prairie Relays. The Knights were one of three teams to score over 100 points at the meet, totaling 113 points. Mid-Prairie won their home meet with 152 points and Lisbon was second with 138 points.
Greg Hansen won the only event for North Cedar, winning the 100-meter dash in 11.44. Bryce Bemer was second in the same event with a time of 11.45. Bemer was also second in the 200-meter dash in 23.46.
In field events, North Cedar had three top-5 finishers with Owen Meyer 4th in the high jump, Aaron Woodward 4th in the shot put and Hansen 5th in the long jump.
In Individual events, Treat Spahr had a pair of runner-up finishes in the individual hurdle events. Spahr was second in the 110-meter high hurdles in 17.79 and second in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.44.Seamus Raney had third place finishes in the 400-meter dash and the 800-meter run.
North Cedar’s best relay finish was its 4X200-meter relay that finished runner-up with the team of Jacob Jensen, Bryce Bemer, Miles McCullough and Greg Hansen in 44.93.
The Knights run twice this week, at Solon Tuesday and at Monticello Thursday.

Three First Finishes For Knights At DeWitt
DEWITT — Led by three first place finishes, the North Cedar boy’s track team placed second at the 8-team DeWitt Saber Relays last Tuesday. The Knights nearly won the meet, finishing 8.5 points behind meet winner Cascade. The Cougars scored 120.5 points to the Knights 112 points. NE Goose Lake was third with 111 and Bellevue was fourth with 104 points as the four River Valley Conference North schools were the only ones to top the 100-point mark at the meet.
North Cedar senior Bryce Bemer was part of two of the three North Cedar wins. Bemer won the 100-meter dash in 11.89 and ran the second leg of the Knights winning 4X100-meter relay team. That team of Jacob Jensen, Bemer, Miles McCullough and Greg Hansen won in 45.42. Seamus Raney claimed the other North Cedar win with win in the 800-meter run in 2:06.19.
Four other events were runners-up at the meet. Aaron Woodward was second in the shot put, Treat Spahr was second in the 110-meter hurdles and Greg Hansen was second in the 200-meter dash. The Knights 4X800-meter relay team of Raney, Carter Johnson, Byron Boleyn and Cory Cox were also second in a time of 9:09.05.
