Wildcats Third At Chad Gates Invitational

WEST BRANCH — The Durant boy’s track team placed third at the Chad Gates Invitational last week in West Branch.  The Wildcats finished behind meet champ West Branch and runner-up North Linn.  The Bears scored 167 points and the Lynx 111 points.  Wilton placed 5th with a team score of 39.

Durant seniors Joey Tobin and Gavin Blake each had two runner-up finishes to lead Durant.  Tobin was second in the 3,200-meter run in 10:56.58 and in the 1,600-meter run in 5:08.20.  Blake placed second in the long jump with a best jump of 20-07 and second in the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.09.

Durant’s best relay finish came from their 4X200-meter relay team of Josh Hein, Adam Wiese, Isaiah Overton and Jeremy Carnes in a time of 2:00.12.

Evan Reifert won the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.04 to give the Beavers one event win.  Wilton had two runner-up finishes.  Javin Drake was second in the discus with a throw of 114-01 and the Beavers 4X100-meter relay team of Cody Navarro, Brian Stillman, Chase Miller and Evan Reifert were second in a time of 47.85.
