Werthmann scores 13 in All-Star game

CEDAR RAPIDS — Durant senior guard Aubrey Werthmann scored 13 points Sunday for the class 2A gray all-star team in the annual Iowa Girls Coaches Association’s senior All-Star games.  The games were held on the campus of Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.  The 2A gray team led by 18 at halftime, 46 to 28 before taking the  five-point, 72-67 win over their senior counterparts.
Werthmann made four shots from the floor including three, three pointers.  She added two free throws and was the leading scorer for the gray squad.  West Branch senior Haley Mullinix was also on the 2A gray team and scored 5 points, making two shots from the floor.  All ten players on the gray squad scored points and scored at least three points in the game.  The 2A gray team was coached by Tipton head girl’s basketball coach Chad Rezac.
The 2A white team was led in scoring by three players in double figures.  Savannah Domeyer scored 16, Mary Hansen 12 and Lexi Groe 10.  Domeyer is from Clayton Ridge and led her team in scoring with an 18.1-point scoring average.  Hansen is from Woodward-Granger and averaged 13.0 points a game this season.  Groe is from Lake Mills and averaged 5.9 points a game for her team this season.
Three other River Valley Conference seniors played in the games.  Camanche’s Courtney Schnoor was on the 3A/4A/5A white team that won 101 to 73 over the 3A/4A/5A select team.  Schnoor made four field goals and was 4-for-6 from the free throw line and finished with 12 points.
West Liberty’s Haddie Anderson was on the 3A gray team that lost 73-68 to the 3A white team.  Anderson made two field goals and scored 4 points.
Iowa City Regina’s Sarah Lehman was on the class 2A select team that lost by two points, 80-78 to the 1A select team.  Lehman scored 12 points in the game.
