IOWA CITY — The Wilton girl’s cross-country team placed 11th at the Bob Brown cross-country Classic last Thursday in their first meet of the season. The Beavers were to run two days earlier at a meet hosted by Louisa-Muscatine, but that meet was canceled due to bad weather. The Beavers scored 297 points in Iowa City in their first meet. Solon won the meet with 66 points followed by Iowa City Liberty with 70 and Iowa City Regina with 100 to round out the top-3 finishing teams.
Linsey Ford was the top Wilton runner with a 39th place finish in a time of 23:56. Emmy Drake placed 58th in 24:46 and Abbi Brown placed 74th in 25:51. Other Wilton finishers were Franchesca Owens 91st, Lindsey Randolph 92nd, Megan Hook 98th, Ansley Boorn 99th, and Zoe Barrett 100th.
The North Cedar Knights were also at the meet but did not have enough runners for a team score, with just three runners at the meet. Two Knights placed in the top-30 runners at the meet. Kiley Chapman placed 18th in 22:41 and Carly Montz placed 26th in a time of 22:58. Karly Cerda was the other North Cedar runner at the meet and she placed 97th.
