Tigers One of Four Teams To Score 200 points at Muscatine Invitational

  MUSCATINE — The Tipton swimming team traveled to Muscatine on Saturday, September 1 for their first Invitational of the season. There, the Tigers were one of four scoring teams of the eight at the event, to score at least 200 team points. The Tigers scored 204.0 points to place fourth in the 8-team meet. Linn-Mar ran away with the team title, scoring 408 points while the host Muskies of Muscatine were second in the standings with a team score of 274.0. Boone, a new team to the invitational this year, placed third with 260.0 points.

  The Tigers held their own against the tougher field of teams, scoring runner-up finishes in two relay events and four individual events.
 
  Four Tigers places as runners-up in individual events. Sophomore Maddie Swick placed second in the 100-yard butterfly and the 200-IM. Swick swam to a time of 1:05.94 finish in the butterfly and to a time of 2:32.0 in the IM event. Britney Ford placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:17.47 and Rhyan Hoefler was second in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:53.72.

  The two relay events Tipton placed second in were the 200-medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay. The Tiger medley relay team of Ali Anderson, Britney Ford, Rhyan Hoefler, and Zoe Stonebraker were second to Linn-Mar in a time of 2:03.66. The Tigers were only just over a second behind the Lions. The Tigers 400-yard freestyle relay team of Rhyan Hoefler, Maddie Swick, Ali Anderson, and Zoe Stonebraker placed second in a time of 4:06.92.

  Burlington placed fifth, Keokuk 6th, Williamsburg 7th and Fairfield 8th to round out the Team scores. The Tigers are 2-0 in dual meets this season, having won meets against Clinton and Williamsburg.

  The Tigers swam at Williamsbrug on Monday, September 10 and will swim at Linn-Mar Thursday, September 13 before traveling to Davenport Central Monday, September 17.
