Beavers Win Home Tournament, Run Record To 14-0

WILTON — The Wilton Beavers are on quite a run to begin the 2018 season. The Beavers collected four more match wins to run their record to 14-0. Wilton is one of only three class 2A teams that are unbeaten this late in the season. The others are Dyersville-Beckman (23-0) and Grundy Center (14-0), both ranked in the top-3 in 2A as Grundy Center is ranked No. 1 and Beckman No. 3.
  The Beavers won all four matches by 2-0 sweeps to claim the tournament title. Wilton beat Mount Pleasant, IMS, Midland and Winfield-Mt. Union on the day.

  Aubrey Putman led three players with at least 20 kills in the four matches with 28. Emily Lange had 22 and Kortney Drake 21 for Wilton. Eleney Owens was the top Wilton server on the day, going 30-for-31 with six ace serves. Ella Caffrey had a team high 68 assists and Kortney Drake had a team high 10 digs.

  Wilton won their third tournament of the season and improved to 13-0 in tournament play this season to date. Wilton won the Easton Valley Tournament on August 25, the Wapello tournament on August 28 and their own tournament last weekend. THe Beavers play at the Clinton Tournament this Saturday.
