Beavers One Of Two RVC Teams that remain unbeaten

  WAPELLO - The Wilton Beaver volleyball team is one of only two River Valley Conference teams that remain unbeaten after two weeks of competition. The 13-team league has three ranked teams in class 3A - Tipton, Camanche, West Liberty - but no schools in 2A. That may change after the Beavers swept through the field of their second tournament last week, winning the Wapello tournament on Tuesday, August 28. The Beavers are a perfect 9-0 in nine August matches. The Beavers beat Wapello, Washington, Columbus Junction, and Central Lee. Wilton will see their first RVC match this week when they host West Branch on Thursday.
 All four Beaver foes had at least six matches in at the time they played Wilton. Wilton beat all four schools by 2-0 sweeps. In nine matches, Wilton has not dropped a set.
  Against the home Wapello Arrows, Wilton won 2-0 by scores of 21-7 and 21-6. Wilton had 13 kills in the match from 28 attacks. Aubrey Putman had 5 and Kortney Drake 3 to lead Wilton. Ella Caffrey had 9 assists and Alexa Garvin served 10-for-11 with an ace serve.
  Against Washington, Wilton won the match 2-0 by scores of 21-14 and 21-7. The Beavers had 24 kills led by Emily Lange with 6, Garvin with 5 and Drake with 5. Caffrey had 17 assists and Aubrey Putman was the top server in the match, going 11-for-12 with 6 aces.
  Against Columbus Junction, Wilton won the match 2-0 by scores of 21-4 and 21-10. Putman led in kills with 8 kills and Caffrey in assists with 13. Kortney Drake was the top Wilton server, going 14-for-14 with 5 aces.
  Against Central Lee Wilton won the match 2-0 by scores of 21-9 and 21-16. For the tournament, Wilton did not allow ten or more points in five of the eight sets played. Putman had 13 of the Beavers 25 kills in the match. Caffrey had 19 assists and Kelsey Drake served 8-for-8 as did Alexa Garvin to lead Wilton servers.
