IOWA CITY — Two area boy’s cross-country teams ran their first meets of the season last week at the annual Bob Brown cross-country classic in Iowa City. The meet was held at the Iowa City Kickers Sports Complex on the East side of Iowa City. There, North Cedar and Wilton each got their season started last Thursday.
The Beavers placed 10th in the team standings with a team score of 316 points. Marion won the meet with a team score of 38 followed by Clear Creek-Amana with 50 and Western Dubuque with 96 team points.Zach Hein led Wilton finishers with a 21st place finish in a time of 18:32. Ethan Bailey placed 75th in 20:38 and Isaac Hunter placed 81st in 20:56. Other Wilton finishers were Mason Baker 98th, Colby Brown 106th, Josh Hunter 107th, Gavin Reid 109th, and Conner Bierman 111th.
North Cedar also was at the meet but was one runner short of scoring as a team. The Knights were running in their first meet of the season. Jacob Spahr led North Cedar with a 103rd place finish in 24:29.
Other North Cedar finishers were David Redhage 110th, Ryan Spahr 112th, and Marshall VanOort 113th.
