TIPTON — The Tipton Tiger volleyball team found out their postseason bracket last Tuesday and they won’t have to travel out of the county for the first two rounds. The Tigers are in class 3A, Region 8. The Tigers will host the first and second round matches of Region 8.
The Tigers will open regional play on Wednesday, October 18 against Williamsburg in a 3A quarterfinal.
The winner of that match will play the winner of the Mid-Prairie at Central Lee quarterfinal. The other two quarterfinals in the bracket are Albia at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and Centerville at Davis County.
The Tigers played Williamsburg at the Williamsburg tournament and won that match 2-1. In that match, Tipton had 31 kills, served 54-for-59 and had only 16 errors in 104 attack attempts. The Tigers beat Mid-Prairie 3-0 earlier this month.
Records as of Sunday, October 8 for Region 8 teams were Tipton 25-5, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 18-13, Central Lee 13-15, Albia 10-17, Davis County 10-18, Centerville 5-9 and Mid-Prairie 4-19.
Tipton and Eddyville will be host sites for Region 8 semifinals on Tuesday, October 24 at 7:00 p.m. The Region 8 final will be on Monday, October 30 in Williamsburg at 7:00 p.m.
The 2017 state volleyball tournament is scheduled for Tuesday, November 7-Friday, November 10 at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids. The class 3A quarterfinals are at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8. The 3A semifinals are on Thursday, November 9 at 2:00 p.m. and the class 3A championship is at 2:30 on Friday, November 10.
