Tigers Beat Davenport North 112-50

DAVENPORT — The Tipton swimming team improved to 4-1 in dual meets with a 112-50 dual victory at Davenport North last Thursday.  The Tigers won both dual meets last week, beating Fairfield the previous Monday night.  The Tigers won nine events at the meet including all three relay events.
Tipton freshman Zoe Stonebraker was part of four event wins at the meet and one of five Tigers with multiple event wins.  
Stonebraker set a PR in the 500-yard freestyle, getting under the 6-minute mark in the event, finishing first in 5:52.62.  She also won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:30.41.  In the 500, Stonebraker and teammate Kayley Clark went 1-2 in the finishes.  Kenadi Krenz placed fourth in the event.  Clark broke seven minutes and Krenz eight minutes in the event.  In the IM, Stonebraker swam to a winning time of 2:30.41.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Ashley Mente, Britney Ford, Stonebraker and Ali Anderson won the event in 2:07.81 by nearly seven seconds over the second place team from Davenport North.  The Tigers 400-freestyle relay team of Stonebraker, Clark, Artica Dykstra and Sara Webb placed first in the event.
Three Tigers nearly gave Tipton four swimmers with four event wins, having been a part of three event wins and one runner-up finish.  Those swimmers were Ali Anderson, Ashley Mente and Sara Webb.
Webb and teammate Liz Bierman were 1-2 in the 200-yard freestyle.  Webb won the event in a time of 2:23.65.  She had the fastest split in each of the four split times including jumping out to a nearly five-second lead after the first split in the event.  Bierman was second in 2:44.91.  Webb swam second on the Tigers winning 200-yard freestyle relay and the anchor leg of the Tigers winning 400-yard freestyle relay.  Webb was also second int he 100-yard butterfly in 1:17.23.
Anderson won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:04.84, a near full seven seconds in front of the second place finisher from Davenport North.  Anderson had split times of 30.84 and 34.0, the fastsest in the event.  Anderson swam the anchor legs of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay and the 200-yard medley relay.  Anderson was second in the 50-yard freestyle in 28.85.
Mente and Anderson were 1-2 in the 50-yard freestyle in the closest finish of the night.  Mente swam to a winning time of 28.84, .01 in front of Anderson to claim the event.  The 1-2 THS finish was one of four events that THS finished 1-2 in at the meet.  Mente swam the lead off legs of hte winning 200-freestyle relay and the 200-yard medley relay.  Mente placed second in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 1:11.70.
Britney Ford was in on two wins, one relay and one individual event.  Ford was on the winning 200-yard medley relay and she won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:17.91.  Ford had the fastest 50-split in the race by nearly three seconds (36.56) and she extended her lead two seconds on the second split to win the event by nearly six seconds over the second place swimmer.
In other Tipton finishes, Liz Bierman was second in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard freestyle.  The Tigers were runners-up in the 200-yard freestyle relay with the team of Bierman, Krenz, Valet and Clark.
Four Tigers placed third in an individual event.  Isabelle Valet was third in the 100-yard butterfly, Katie Binns was third in the 100-yard freestyle, Artica Dykstra was third in the 100-yard backstroke and Erica Wehde was third in the 50-yard freestyle.
The Tigers also placed third in the 200-yard medley with the team of Dykstra, Bierman, Binns and Clark and third in the 400-yard free relay with the team of Binns, Valet, Wehde and Krenz.
The Tigers will be swimming at the Cedar Rapids Washington junior varsity meet this Saturday before traveling to Williamsburg on Monday, October 9.
