Tigers Second at Williamsburg Duals

WILLIAMSBURG — The Tipton swimming team placed second out of five teams at the Williamsburg duals on Monday, October 9.  It was the second time this season that the Tigers traveled to Williamsburg for a meet.  The Tigers scored 270 points at the meet to finish ahead of third place Williamsburg who scored 256 points.  Vinton-Shellsburg won the meet with 340 team points.  Vinton Shellsburg won all 11 events at the meet.

The Tigers did not win an event at the meet, but had four events place second, two relays and two individual events.

Tipton placed second in the 200-yard medley relay.  The team of Ashley Mente, Britney Ford, Zoe Stonebraker and Ali Anderson were second in 2:07.37.  The Tigers also placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay.  The team of Artica Dykstra, Ali Anderson, Ashley Mente and Zoe Stonebraker were the runners-up in the event in a time of 1:57.33.

Individually, Tipton senior Ashley Mente was second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:10.49.  Zoe Stonebraker was second in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:58.38.

The Tigers swam at Fairfield on Monday, October 16.  Results were not in by presstime.  The Tigers are now off until their Regional meet at Davenport Central on Saturday, October 28.
