On the boy’s side, Tipton showed their dominance and depth at the meet scoring 31 points to run away with the meet title. Northeast was a distant second with 90 points while Class 1A No. 15 Calamus-Wheatland was third with 99 points.
It was quite a race for the individual champion between Bellevue’s Brady Griebel and Tipton’s Caleb Shumaker. Griebel won the race, barely, in a time of 17:18 with Shumaker right there close with a second-place finish in 17:22. Four other THS runners placed in the top-10. Trent Pelzer was third in 17:54, Landan Hill was 9th in 18:50, and Cody Bohlmann was 10th in 18:51. Other THS finishers were Andrew Olseen 11th and Ty Nichols 14th.
On the girl’s side, THS held off runner-up Bellevue Marquette to claim the team title. Tipton scored 69 points to the MoHawks 73. Prince of Peace placed third with 83 points. Kallie Wallick led THS with a top-10 finish, placing 5th at 23:07. Three other Tipton runners placed in the top-20. Alyssa Mente was 12th, Coryn Wallick 13th, and Rachel Bierman 18th. Other Tipton finishes came from Alli Nash 21st, Britney Ford 27th, and Becca Stroup 28th.
Knights Run At Little Bear Meet
WYOMING — The North Cedar cross-country team ran in one meeting last week. That meet was at Little Bear Country Club in Wyoming. There, the Knight boys placed 8th while the North Cedar girls gained valuable individual experience after not having enough runners to place in the team standings.
On the boy’s side, North Cedar scored 209 points and placed 8th. Top-ranked Class 2A Tipton won the meet with a score of 31 after placing five runners in the top-10. Samuel Choate was the first Knight finisher in 32nd place. He ran to a time of 21:52. Jacob Spahr, David Redhage, Chance Cinkovich and Milo Easterly all placed in the top-50 runners and completed the race in under 27-minutes.
On the girl’s side, North Cedar had three runners compete. Junior Kiley Chapman placed fourth in 22:50 and Hunter Jones nearly placed in the top-10, placing 11th in 24:07. Rhyan Hoefler also placed 26th in a time of 28:16. Tipton won the girl’s race with a team score of 69 while Bellevue Marquette was second with 73 points.
