Wilton stays unbeaten with two RVC wins

 WILTON — The Wilton Beavers improved to 16-0 with two wins in River Valley Conference play last week. The Beavers beat then Class 3A no. 3 West Liberty 3-1 and swept Mid-Prairie 3-0. The 16 wins puts the Beavers as the lone unbeaten RVC South team as they headed into a weekend tournament at Clinton. With Tipton’s loss to West Liberty last Thursday, the Beavers are alone atop the RVC South standings. The Beavers host Tipton on Tuesday, September 24.

 Wilton beat Mid-Prairie 3-0 on Thursday September 19. Wilton won the rst set 25-11 to take a 1-0 match lead. Mid-Prairie gave the Beavers a better second game but fell 25-17 to give Wilton a 2-0 lead. Wilton completed the sweep, winning the third set 25-9.

 The Beavers had 38 kills in 78 attack attempts. Kelsey Drake had 15 kills and Ella Ca ery had eight. Ca ery had 23 assists and served 9-for-9. Drake had 10 assists, 10 digs and served 10-for-10 with three aces. Mallory Lange had 12 digs and Alexa Garvin had 12. Wilton served 69-of-73 with nine aces. Garvin led Wilton in serving, going 19-for-20 with an ace serve.

 The Beavers started the week with a big victory over state ranked West Liberty on September 17. The Beavers beat the Comets 3-1. Scores for the match were 25-23, 25-27, 26-24, and 25-23.
Wilton had 52 kills in 131 attacks. Kelsey Drake had 21 kills and 18 assists. Ella Ca ery had 19 kills and 24 assists. Taylor Garvin led Wilton in serving, going 23-for-24 with four aces. The Beavers had 16 blocks in the match. Ella Ca ery had nine blocks and Kelsey Drake had ve.

Beavers Win Home Tournament
 WILTON — The Wilton volleyball team won their home tournament on Saturday, September 14. The Beavers won all four matches they played in by scores of 2-0. Wilton beat Midland, Mount Pleasant, Hillcrest Academy, and Win eld-Mt. Union.

 Against Midland, Wilton won by scores of 25-8 and 25-11. Wilton had 24 kills in the match on 37 attacks. Kelsey Drake had 10 while Ella Ca ery and Taylor Garven each had ve. Ca ery had 13 assists and Alexa Garvin had six digs. Wilton served 41-for-45 with 10 aces. Peyton Souhrada led Wilton, going 9-for-10 with an ace. Drake served 9-for-9 with four aces.

 Against Mount Pleasant, Wilton won by scores of 25-17, 25-12. The Beavers had 27 kills in 63 attacks. Ca ery led with nine and Drake had seven. Ca ery had 13 assists and Drake had 11. Mallory Lange led in digs with 12. Wilton served 37-for-39 with six aces. Ca ery was 14-for-14 with an ace.

Against Hillcrest Academy, Wilton won by scores of 25-6, 25-10. Wilton had 19 kills in 34 attacks. Kelsey Drake had six kills and six assists. Ella Ca ery had 12 assists and Alexa Garvin had ve digs. Wilton served 35-for-37 with 15 aces. Peyton Souhrada led Wilton, going 13-for-13 with three aces.

 The Beavers beat Win eld-Mt. Union 25-17 and 25-12. Wilton had 16 kills in the match with Ca ery getting seven. Kelsey Drake had 10 assists and Mallory Lange had 13 digs. Wilton served 46-for-47 with six aces. Souhrada was 14-for14 with an ace serve. Ca ery and Drake each were 10-for-10 with four combined ace serves.

 The Beavers improved to 14-0 with the wins.
