Tigers place third at Williamsburg Invite

 WILLIAMSBURG — The Tipton swimming team scored 263 points and placed third at the Williamsburg Invitational Monday, September 16. There were ve scoring teams, four of which were bigger than THS, at the meet. Vinton-Shellsburg won the meet with a team score of 349 while the host Raiders were the runner-up with 347 points.

 The Tigers won six events at the meet. Rhyan Hoe er and Maddie Swick were each won three events at the meet and collected a second-place nish as well. Hoe er won two individual events at the meet. Hoe er won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:07.01 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:46.86. Swick won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:05.61 and the 200-yard IM in 2:30.56. Both were on the Tigers winning 400-yard freestyle relay event that won in a time of 4:24.28. Corrine Vandergaast and Kayley Clark were also on the winning relay. Swick and Hoe er were on the Tigers second-place 200-yard medley relay team with Ali Anderson and Zoe Stonebraker who nished in a time of 2:03.50.

 Kayley Clark swam a season-best time in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:27.50 for the other THS victory. Clark also placed fourth in the 500-yard freestyle. Zoe Stonebraker had two top-3 nishes in individual events. Stonebraker was the runner- up in the 50-yard freestyle in 27.90 and third in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:03.88. Ali Anderson also had a runner-up nish in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:11.49.
