BELLEVUE — Two Cedar County school’s cross-country teams ran at the Bellevue Cross-Country Invitational last Tuesday. The meet was originally scheduled for Monday, September 23, but the weather forced the postponement to the next day. Both Durant and North Cedar had runners at the meet that day.
On the boy’s side, Durant placed sixth with a team score of 129. Drake Shelangoski led Durant with an 18th place finish in 18:59. Two others placed in the top-30 with Nathan Moomey placing 21st and Kayden Johnson placing 23rd.
Calamus-Wheatland won the meet with a team score of 45. Camanche was second with 59 points and Northeast third with 82 points. North Cedar placed ninth as a team with 223 points. Sam Choate led North Cedar runners with a 34th place finish at 20:20.
On the girl’s side, neither North Cedar or Durant had enough runners in the varsity race to score as a team. Both had good races though. North Cedar had three runners at the meet and they all placed in the top-25. Two placed in the top-10. Kiley Chapman placed third overall in 20:41. Jess Hunter also finished in the top-10 with a seventh-place finish in 22:21. Rhyan Hoefler gave the Knights three, top-25 place finishers by placing 23rd in 25:16.
Prince of Peace won the meet with a team score of 33. Bellevue Marquette was second with 36 points, and Maquoketa third with 73 points.
Durant had four runners at the meet. Heidie Wolf led Durant finishers with a 22nd place finish in 25:11. Carllie Jo Fusco placed 34th, Kyrnan Liske-Rochholz placed 37th and Kaitlyn Paustian placed 41st.
